World No Tobacco Day 2025: Turning Awareness into Action with CHIP Foundation
Observed annually on May 31st, World No Tobacco Day is a global initiative led by the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco and advocate for effective public health interventions. In India—where tobacco-related illnesses continue to burden public health systems—the CHIP Foundation, in collaboration with ECHO India, spearheaded a week-long observance filled with dynamic events designed to inspire change and drive impact.
🔬 Innovation in Public Health: Genomics & Cancer Prevention Webinar (🗓 May 24, 2025)
In collaboration with ECHO India and the Indian Cancer Genome Atlas (ICGA), the CHIP Foundation kicked off the week with a national-level webinar on “Genomics in Public Health: Innovations for Cancer Prevention, Early Detection & Precision Treatment.” Key experts in genomics and oncology explored how cutting-edge science can support tobacco-related cancer prevention. The event fostered dialogue around personalized medicine and emphasized the growing role of genomic technologies in shaping public health.







Training for Impact: Virtual Course on Tobacco Cessation & Oral Cancer Screening

Expert Workshop: Uncovering the Tobacco-Cancer Nexus

📍 Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences (MAIDS), New Delhi CHIP Foundation and MAIDS co-hosted a compelling workshop titled “Tobacco and Cancer Menace – An Overlooked Problem.” Highlights included: Keynote by Dr. Mausumi Bharadwaj, ICMR-NICPR – "Effects of Smokeless Tobacco on Oral Microbiome" Special Lecture by Dr. Suneela Garg – "India’s Silent Killer: Smokeless Tobacco" Interactive Quiz led by Dr. Sakshi Batra and Dr. Bhavya Pundir of CHIP Foundation, reinforcing core knowledge through engagement.




Reaching the Young: Oral Hygiene Awareness for Children

📍 Saikripa Orphanage, Sector 56, Noida Targeting early health education, CHIP Foundation conducted an engaging Oral Health & Hygiene Awareness Program for 65+ children. The session covered: Brushing and hygiene techniques Preventive oral care Healthy daily habits Each child received a free oral hygiene kit, nurturing lifelong habits and health equity from a young age.






Community Outreach: Free Health Camp for Preventive Screening (

📍 Hyde Park, Sector 78, Noida Bringing health directly to the people, CHIP organized a Health Screening Camp that included: Free health check-ups Tobacco cessation counseling Awareness on oral, cervical, and breast health Lifestyle and nutrition advice This grassroots initiative allowed community members to access vital health services and information in a supportive and open environment.




Youth Voices Through Lenses: Photography Competition
31 May 2025
To spark youth advocacy, CHIP hosted a Photography Competition on the themes “Say No to Tobacco” and “Tobacco-Free Future.” Two age groups—8–12 years and 13–16 years—submitted mobile photography capturing: Risks of tobacco use Healthier lifestyle choices Inspiring actions for change Winners were featured online and awarded for creativity, relevance, and ethical storytelling.


Concluding With Knowledge: Certificate Course on Areca Nut Risks

The final event addressed the lesser-known but equally dangerous health impacts of areca nut use, with the course “Areca Nut Use in India: Myths, Realities, and Health Risks.” Through myth-busting and evidence-based discussion, the session equipped attendees with tools to advocate for change and counter harmful misconceptions.
